I found Cindy through yelp because I was looking for a curly hair specialist that had experience with what I thought was "rare, Asian curls".
All my life, I'd fought my curly hair thinking it was just frizz. Tortured it with straighteners, magic straight perms, keratin/Brazilian treatments. Anything to make it tame and not be poofy.
This year, I got tired of spending all that money and decided to see what my natural hair looked like. When you book your first appointment, 3 hours sound like a long time. Then you get to your appointment, meet Cindy and realize it's not enough time. I need more quality Cindy time.
Even though I wanted to do a big chop, she still took the time to cut my hair curl by curl to make sure I was comfortable with the length and the shape. The whole time, our appointment was like chatting with a friend and as soon as we started, 3 hrs was up. I left shocked. I had no idea my hair could even look this way.

CURL GIRLS, DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Cindy is the curl master! Get on her wait list ASAP. Her 3 hr evaluation and cut will change your life. I wish I knew all this info years ago, I've been doing my hair all wrong. She'll go over do's and don’ts, wash, cut and style (but most importantly teach you how to style and maintain). Her videos the session and sends you home with a packet of all the info so you can learn and do it yourself at home. I'm not sure how I found Cindy, I think it was when I googled "Rezo Cut in Orange County." Anyway, it was a treat to meet Cindy and she did a wonderful job on both cutting and styling my hair. I love that she blocked off a significant amount of time to give me her full attention and to carefully explain the products and steps she took to style my hair for maximum curl. First of all she spent a lot of time just listening to my concerns and goals before she even picked up her scissors. She then cut it dry. Then she washed and styled it. She even sent me a little video going through all the steps with me so I wouldn't get lost along the way. Cindy is simply the BEST stylist I have ever been to for my Italian curly hair. I went to have her do a minor trim for my long curly hair last year (June 2019) and she did an entire consultation/styling lesson with me. She took so much more time than any other stylist ever has spent with me, and she was so intentional to really help me start over from square one for curly hair care because my hair was unhappy (picture below). Over this past year, my hair was so healthy (because of Cindy's care and education) that it grew so much longer than I have ever had it grow before. I have had my hair longer for 5 years now, so I was itching to do a big chop for my 2nd appointment with Cindy! She helped me section my hair into pony tails so that I could donate my long locks (like I have always wanted to do), and she was so considerate to ask me with every step "Are you doing okay? Are you sure you want me to chop it?" because I was pretty attached to my length at our appointment last year. I was VERY ready to chop it this month though (January 2020), and I'm soooo happy with the cut that Cindy did for me! Cindy did a wonderful job layering my curly hair. The layers blend in and my hair looks much fuller. I have had many cuts with stylists that claim to specialize in curly hair to end up with hair much shorter than I wanted and layers that look like steps. I'm happy to finally get a good cut. The initial cut may seem pricey, and it's more than I usually spend, but Cindy spends hours working on the perfect cut. She listened to my concerns, looked at cuts/styles I liked, dry cut my hair, washed my hair, dried and styled it, then did small touch up cuts to make sure my hair looked great. Unlike other stylists who want to see you every two to three months, Cindy feels you can go up to 6 months (as long as you're happy with the length). A visit with Cindy was a good investment in my hair. I look forward to going back in 6 months.

Cindy is amazing at what she does. I have flat ironed most of my life and never embraced my curls. Started going curly only a few months ago but just wasn't loving my hair. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After getting my fist cut with Cindy I am so impressed! My first curly girl cut, its cut dry and you see the results as she cuts. I called ouidad salon if they knew the rezo cut and no. I called a few other places who considered themselves curly hair experts and no they didn't know the rezo cut or the deva cut. I searched and finally found Cindy who is a REAL curly hair expert . She knows product, texture, cuts, history on curly hair and trends... she also gives you lesson on how to the get the most out of your cut. She sends instructions and is thorough before the appointment. She provides tips and extra info but no pressure to have to follow it. Your first appointment will be long but it's fun. She has an outgoing personality and is very detailed and attentive. You can tell she takes pride in her work and wants to see that you like what you're seeing as she cuts. Very experienced, professional but also casual vibe.

I have never been able to make my hair look remotely similar to how I looked when I left the salon. That is, until now. After my first post-appointment wash & self-styling, my hair is darn close to looking as good as my new, cherished stylist Cindy Latter had it looking. This is miraculous, but can be explained. The right cut, by a trained curl expert is key. In addition, the right products & correct application, & proper styling techniques make this miracle happen. An appointment with Cindy is a major learning experience. There was a lot to learn & Cindy is so patient & kind. Printed out directions & even a video of the process were provided & were invaluable. I referred to both for each step & despite my past inability to style my hair, I succeeded! Cindy has this down to a science. And take it from me, the guidance she provides is idiot-proof. Not only that, but Cindy is truly a person that you feel like you've known forever, like a great friend to rely on. She doesn't criticize, judge, or come on strong with suggesting products. In fact, I will be using half the number of products that I formally used. Better products & more cost effective, a big win. A surprise to me is that frequent appointments aren't necessary. I anticipated needing touch ups routinely, but this isn't the case. If you have curly hair & want it looking the best it's ever looked, put your curls in Cindy’s expert hands. Until recently, I was unaware that I even had an option for getting a curly haircut and have spent most of my life avoiding haircuts on purpose because so many have ended so horribly. So imagine my delight at finding Cindy and A Curl's Best Friend.
I had an amazing experience learning more about my hair and understanding what it needs to be happy than I've ever had in my whole life. This is an adorable little salon, very private. Cindy makes sure to spend time figuring out what's best for you and your hair, and answers all your questions! She added a bunch of layers to my hair to create volume and showed me how to properly style my hair and what products to use. I have never loved my curls more. Oh, and she does coloring! I cannot recommend Cindy enough!! Someone else mentioned she felt like an old friend, and I totally agree! She taught me everything I needed to know to care for my curls and gave me a great cut. I wish I had gone to her years ago. She is one on one with you the whole time. She doesn't just cut your hair then pass you off to someone else to finish up. This happened to a friend who went to another curly hair specialist. Cindy shows you how to refresh your curls, shows you different ways to put your hair up, how to protect your curls while sleeping, and of course how to style your new cut. Cindy clearly knows her stuff! You leave a goodie bag full of samples, offers trial size versions of the product she uses and doesn't pressure you to purchase anything. She also gives you a folder with pages and pages of all the information she covered with specifics for YOUR hair. And, her salon is darling!!! Best haircut ever, I've washed it a few times since I had it cut and it's still amazing. Cindy listened to what I wanted and took into account how much effort I'm willing to put into my hair day-to-day. She gave me an amazing cut that I pretty much don't need to do anything to, just some leave-in conditioner for moisture and I let it dry. I had seen another curly stylist previously and the quality of the cut and the overall experience was drastically different. Cindy's space is private, clean, comfortable and lovely and she is a pleasure.

If you're a curly girl, you need to do yourself a favor and come here. My hair is thick, curly and long. I've committed myself to a natural hair care regimen and was recently in search of a stylist who was strictly dedicated to curly hair. Although I've been to a curly hair stylist in the past, my need for quality service and work had yet to be fulfilled. Having curly hair requires a distinguished effort which is evident in the results of the hair styling and health. So I take the investment of my time and money seriously with anyone who I allow to do my hair.
The salon is lovely from the outside and located in a great shopping plaza. There's tons of parking and an ample amount of food choices if you hungry. Once I entered the salon I was surrounded by a warm rustic decor that made me feel welcomed. Everything was neat and organized, which I loved.
Cindy was so kind in her initial greeting and made me feel like she'd known me for years. She quickly begin the process by asking me what my intentions were for my hair and discussed options with me. From the very start, she was candid in her professional recommendation and was very knowledgeable. She was thoroughly engaged with the styling of hair and I appreciated that the most.
My overall experience with Cindy was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had with a hair stylist. Being able to have my vision developed into a reality in my hair was more than worthy of a 5 star review.
The prices are reasonable for the effort it takes to do hair like mine. The time it takes was worth every second. So if you have curly hair, don't waste another moment without having this curly hair surgeon, operate her skills on your hair!!!

Today I had the most Amazing experience. I made an appointment with Cindy in August due to a home dye job and bad cut. I had done my research on Cindy and the Deva Cut she specializing in, I have very curly hair and it looked like a Lions Mane down to the middle of my back. It was time to get help. I arrived at the salon and was greeted by Cindy who makes you feel very comfortable.
She explained in great detail what the process was and went to it. Within minutes I saw a transformation and could not contain the smile on my face. I'm 52 years old and have struggled with my hair for years, this was the best experience I've ever had. My husband and children loved the color and cut, first time for that reaction.
I will never leave her or the salon. She's stuck with me. She sent me on my way with products that were very much needed and a Great overall feeling. Can't wait to see her in December for a touch up. If you have curly hair of any type do yourself a Huge favor and call Cindy. Love love love.

Cindy at Chill Salon is the best ! I went in for a Devacut and she was able to cut and style my hair back to life ! My wavy hair has been poofy/frizzy and she was able to cut it and put the right Deva Curl products to make my hair look good ! Cindy took her time to explain and show me how to use the products to keep my hair from becoming frizzy. And it worked ! Even after a workout, my hair was still frizz free! I have been going to the same stylist for the past 7 years, but decided to try someone who was an expert in curls. I'm so glad I found Cindy. I have found my new stylist !

Cindy is absolutely amazing! No joke, I get great comments about my hair almost every other day. It's been hard for me over the years to find the right highlights that complements my skin. For years, I could never find the right colorist who was able to understand and capture exactly what I was looking for - no gold, orange tones or brassy colors. My review is late but I wanted to see how my curls set once I tried to do my hair myself. (Hair always looks good when a hair specialist styles it) CINDY DID AND GREAT JOB! My curls are curly, bouncy, healthy and full of volume! I do not have to use a defused to get volume in my naturally curly, fine and flat hair.. The layers and clips did the trick! I would totally recommend Cindy any day!!!

I just love my new curls!! I went to Cindy because I saw someone else with a pic on Yelp and I thought "maybe she can do my hair." I booked an appointment with Cindy on May 3rd for an August 31st appointment, almost 4 months later!! But let me tell you......completely worth it. I'm no young buck and have spent a very long time putting an excess amount of different products in my hair hoping that it would work over the years, not to mention that EVERY single time I have EVER gotten my hair cut, it has always been requested of me to straighten my hair so they could cut it. NOT THIS TIME!!! I went in with my curly hair and I thought it didn't look so bad but after Cindy was done with it, it was looking EXTRA FABULOUS!! Can I say that my hair was on fleek??? Because it was! She spent 3 hours, pretty much non-stop with me cutting, washing, styling my hair and educating me along the way, something NO ONE has been able to do. I am more than impressed by her skills and her truly awesome personality. I hope I never move (or Cindy either), so she can always be my hair girl. I have never trusted anyone with my hair. Ever. I TRUST CINDY. I have bragged about her to my family and friends who, when they saw the photo of my hair, thought it was so beautiful. They hadn't seen curls like that on me in many years. Neither have I! She knows what she's doing. I've been solely using DevaCurl product (she gave me a list of which specific items to go and purchase), and my hair feels so nice! After coming home and eventually doing my hair for the first time, I had a bunch of questions to ask her making sure I was doing it right and asking her what I needed to do if it my memories weren't correct on directions. The best curly cut ever!
I had thrown out my straight iron and had been actively trying to find the best salon for my curly hair. After researching, I tried a Ouidad certified salon last November and while the cut was okay...the products were very expensive and it took too much time in the morning. I still had to add curls with a curling iron to get the look I wanted...and I really didn't want to use any more scorching irons on my hair.
I read the reviews about Chill on naturallycurly.com and yelp and called the salon. Once I found out they did the Deva cut...I wanted to try it and compare the cut to Ouidad. I am so thrilled I did! Cindy, the owner, was wonderful. She took her time to explain how the dry cut works, how to get and maintain healthy hair, and how to style it so I can get the same great look after I leave her salon. Any woman with curly hair in the Long Beach area must try Chill to see how great her curls can be.

This was my second visit to Cindy and I could not be happier with the results. I did a large chop this time (instead of the previous trim) and every concern I had, she acknowledged and figured a way around it. I'm in love with the shape of how she cut it as well as the length, as she checked to made sure it wasn't too short or long for my preference. Honestly, she's the only person I've gone to for a haircut and left with hope for my hair.
She spends the time to learn about your hair, what you want, and then not only helps you get there, but also teaches you how you can recreate it yourself after every wash day. Cindy was so helpful with my wavy hair. Not only did she give me my best curly cut ever, but she spent the entire time (3+ hours!) teaching me about my hair and how to care for it while sleeping, exercising, sunning, and real life!
She was so careful to explain and demonstrate everything she was going to do to my hair before she did it, to make sure we were both on the same page. I wasn't just another haircut, but she cared for me as a person and wanted to give me my best hair. I've already made a return appointment!

I had no idea what I was missing! Cindy is incredible! She cuts your curly hair dry, curl by curl, so you have the perfect shape. No one has ever been able to style my hair curly better than I can. Had a consult with Cindy today after finding her info on http://naturallycurly.com A little background, I'm just getting over some bad haircuts in the past almost year to year and a half. Finally grew it back, only to have someone cut my near shoulder length hair to my chin when I asked for a trim last month. Thus, the need for a new salon & new stylist. First off, have to say she listens & gives advice too. Everywhere I've ever gone, I think they've been only half listening and no clue or how to's on cutting or styling. Today I left with a few tips, and can't remember all the info I got in the 30 minute consult. Like, who knew curly girls should only get hair trimmed or layers put in, but not in the same visit? We also devised a solution since I want to keep growing my hair longer, but have it still look nice/not going flat or hard to style. It's not in as a bad place of a place as I thought--I hated my last salon's "trim" like everyday since that--it's more of needing better/correct styling. Which brings me to my next thing that impressed me about Cindy. After my dry cut/ trim next week, she's going to teach me to style. May not seem like a big deal, but it is to me. My hair is wavy and it will do itself without much effort on my part when it's longer. But being shorter, my hair is acting so different. I feel like we hit it off pretty well, and I appreciate she not only cuts/styles curly hair but that's her hair type too so really knows her stuff. I completely trust her with my hair next week, and that doesn't come natural for me. On a side note, I had no problems bringing my younger 2(of 4) kids for the consult. The youngest was in an umbrella stroller, and the other was sitting in a chair by himself--he's very well behaved after having gone with me to years' worth of ieps for another sibling of his. Although, next week they will be playing with friends so I can get some "Mom-time" alone.

update: had my dry/deva cut with Cindy a couple weeks ago. the Christmas tree (aka pyramid) hair shape i had the day before my cut is gone. it was a little surprising to see the difference from when it got was done being cut to how curly/wavy it was after it was washed & styled. asked lots of questions about product & use and for the most part, i'm able to re-create the styling on my own. it is starting to grow out a little since the cut, and the sides of my hair that were hard to get wavy/curly are becoming more wavy on their own. all in all, i am very pleased. i have been getting tons of compliments since i went in.

Cindy has several decades of experience cutting hair, and her accumulated knowledge about different techniques and styling products is impressive.
I have mid-back length type 3a/3b curls and just needed a trim and a little bit of shaping. She took off just the right amount and left my hair looking super healthy and very much not triangle-shaped.
I definitely plan on returning to her for my next haircut!
